Student Care at Limerick Tutorial College

Limerick Tutorial College has appointed a Lead Worker Representative.

The LWR will assist in the implementation of measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and monitor adherence to those measures. They will be involved in communicating the health advice around COVID-19 in the workplace.

We feel strong communication and a shared collaborative approach is key to protecting against the spread of COVID-19 in schools, and looking after the health, safety and wellbeing of staff and students.

Welfare Support

Limerick Tutorial College prides itself in providing the highest levels of care and attention to each and every student.

For many this is their first time living away from home. Our structure of care offers the perfect transition to independence in advance of third level study.

The college is family run and prides itself on its pastoral care. It’s highly experienced staff are always available to discuss any problems and worries that the students may have throughout the day.

Each student is under the close and direct care of a study and welfare supervisor/officer. These supervisors get to know each student individually and are in a position to assist each student and raise concerns with the welfare co-ordinator who will liaise with parents/guardians if necessary.

Academic Mentor

Each student is assigned a mentor who will discuss study queries and examination results. Alterations to personalised study plans may result in the best interest of the student.

In addition students have scheduled meetings which occur every eight weeks post ‘in-house’ school examinations in November, January, March and June. Parents/guardians are involved at all times throughout any decision making processes in the college. Continuous weekly assessments will occur throughout the academic year and necessary feedback will be provided by each highly qualified teacher.

This mentoring process during the academic year comes into fruition for the students in the final weeks as they complete revision with their teacher’s right up to the early days of June.

Additional classes and preparation will be implemented prior to oral and practical examinations as required by students.

The continuous motivation and focus sets the tone for the students prior to and throughout their Leaving Certificate Examination period.

Excellent study skills and examination techniques will be taught to students right throughout the academic year. These will be a key component to their success in their Leaving Certificate Examinations and throughout third level.
